Millett TRS-1 Rifle Scope Review

While some of us may love to go into detail about how vital a scope is to a firearm, at the heart of it it’s all about sight, about vision. What question really needs to be answered other than “does this help me aim better”? But then again there’s the risk of oversimplifying the debate. After all, aiming is a not insignificant part of the equation for success in hunting or tactical shooting.

The Millet 4-16×50 Illuminated TRS is one of the current top-of-the-line scopes that aim – pardon the pun – to help shooters set proper sights on their targets. The TRS-1 comes in both matte and a sharp-looking A-TAC camo deco, two color variations of the same effective scope. You may have heard that this particular Millet Tactical is a solid value for money, and you wouldn’t be wrong to believe that. Serious hunters and tactical operators are the main beneficiaries of the 4-16×50’s sharp performance, and it’s not hard to see why – but this Millett 4-16×50 Illuminated Tactical Riflescope review will try to make it clear.

Millett Illuminated Tactical Rifle Scope Review

Millett TRS-1 4-16×50 FEATURES

The Lens

  • The tactical rifle scope on the 4-16×50, as its name suggests, boasts 4x-16x magnification capability. The objective lens has a 50mm diameter, giving users an easier time viewing targets through the scope. This also compares favorable against many other scopes, as the 50mm diameter is larger and more likely to be helpful in terms of shooting accuracy.

Illumination

  • The Millett 4-16×50 Illuminated Tactical Riflescope has a Mildo-bar reticle, which gives you a clearer view in low light or when the shot is at a wide distance. Long-range shooting is also well within its capabilities, as it has thin-line, dot and adjustable illumination (green) to help with that. This also makes the reticle a strong performer in a variety of lighting conditions. The reticle is also reasonably sturdy, enough to withstand the rigor of rugged and challenging conditions and situations. It’s waterproof, shockproof, and designed to be bulletproof as well.

Optic Features

  • This tactical rifle scope has multicoated optics, which can give crisp and bright images in high or low light conditions. This helps guarantee pinpoint accuracy in any number of lighting conditions, as many a Millet TRS-1 review makes clear.

Focus Range

  • This is where the 4-16×50 also has others beat, as the rifle scope’s higher focus range lets you target from ranges from 15 yards on out to about is far as you’d like.

Millett Illuminated Tactical Rifle Scope Review

What does the Millett Optics Work Well With?

The Millett 4-16×50 Illuminated Tactical Riflescope is a good fit for any AR platforms, be it AR-15, AR-10, or any others. It’s also been shown to work well with a Springfield M1A, Stag 6HL, and the .222Rem Anschutz and .22LR Anschutz target rifle.

How Does The Millett TRS-1 4-16×50 Compare To Others?

Many Millett 4-16×50 Illuminated Tactical Riflescope reviews will make the point that it is at least equal to many of the top brands such as Nikon or UTG on the market – while it doesn’t outpace, say, the top two, it certainly outdoes them pricewise at around 1/10th of what they cost. While it might conversely be higher-priced than some other competitors, the innovative features on the Millet TRS-1 more than justify its price tag, especially given how it streamlines a lot of the effort involved in aiming and shooting. The adjustable illuminated crosshair is particularly popular with many users – its crisp, glare-free lighting makes it a good fit for high noon or midnight and most cases in between.

Any Millett Tactical Downsides?

As good a value as the Millett 4-16×50 Illuminated Tactical Riflescope is for money, it doesn’t come with mounting rings which will need to be purchased separately.

Millett Tactical Camo Rifle Scope

Available In Camo

As solid a performer as this unit is, it’s not exactly for beginners, who might not be used to advanced tactical rifle scope use. Furthermore, while there is no glare or reflection on the part of the shooter, the lenses may reflect light that strikes them from the other end – giving away your position.

Overall Millett Rifle Scope Impact

While its weaknesses are apparent, the Millett 4-16×50 Illuminated Tactical Riflescope is nevertheless perfect for the serious hunter, and well-suited for long-range use that might give others pause. If you’ve got some experience under your belt and know what you want out of a scope, the Millet tactical won’t disappoint. Many Millet TRS-1 reviews have recommended this to law enforcement and the military, and this doesn’t seem like an exaggeration given the crisp and clear targeting this scope is able to deliver.

Aimpoint PRO Patrol Rifle Optic Review

When using a rifle, or any firearm to be exact, vision is key. Not having a clear idea of what’s up ahead compromises everything about using the firearm, and nobody wants that. People who want to use a rifle or shotgun for any serious purpose will make sure to pick an effective scope that helps them make use of the firearm accordingly. Selecting a proper scope is best done according to a rigid set of criteria. Does it mount properly? Does its lens have any options that allow you to tweak its use? Some scopes make use of battery power for certain functions too so that should also be something you look at.

Best Aimpoint Optical

Aimpoint Pro Patrol PROS

  1. Great all-around use. For its part the The AimPoint PRO Patrol Rifle Optic manages to do a little of everything very well. As an AimPoint red dot, it represents the brand very well. The optic itself gives you a wide range of levels, which is certainly appreciated. It works very well with an AR-15, which is no surprise since it is optimized for use with M4 and AR-15-types. What’s more, it will also work well with the SIG 516. On the whole, it can be very satisfying to use. The clarity of the glass is one of its strongest points, and since its frame is similar to the M2 and M3, mounts and other items that match up to them will work well with this too.
  2. Secure attachment. It attaches securely with a torque-limiting twist knob. The best level of tightness is at three clicks of the knob, because this give you a secure lock without risking damaging the rail. The mount doesn’t shift when you use it either, which tells you that this is fairly secure.
  3. Additional spacer for customizable height. The removable spacer is also a nice touch, because while using it puts the mount at the perfect height not everyone might be a fan. There are a lot of other scopes that feel like they sit too low and need an extra riser, but this sits comfortably with your eye, and this is a big deal for optimum firearm performance.
  4. No-frills packaging. Unboxing this is kind of funny since it’s just a plain box with some foam in it, nothing special. We had to read around to find out this was because the AimPoint PRO was originally designed for police department use. It’s austere but gets the job done, as you might expect. Makes sense, since simplified packaging also keeps the price down and doesn’t leave you stuck with some elaborate clamshell that doesn’t serve any actual purpose. You do get a free allen wrench and 1/3N-Cell battery, and some screws for using the scope minus the spacer.
  5. Unbelievably battery life! You’re going to love the battery life on this thing. The battery on the PRO is rated at around 30 thousand hours at even its brightest setting, which is amazing and well worth the price. Competitors like the Strikefire, which aren’t even as bright as the PRO, have a battery rating of 130 hours or so. There’s just no comparison. What other units will you use for around 3 years on one battery?

Aimpoint Red Dot Drawbacks

  1. There’s only one real con, but it’s a fairly solid sticking point for some. Be warned: some might think that the knob is too big for them to comfortably use, especially since it is big enough to be felt past the optic tube. It might get in the way a bit too, as it can keep the optic from settling properly in its groove. Although it can be managed fairly easily for some, this is still a fairly common complaint from many users who are surprised at how unwieldy it seems. It can actually be somewhat tedious to have to make adjustments constantly. Read More Owner Reviews⇒Aimpoint Pro Patrol Rifle Scope Review

This might be the best AimPoint optic you can get, as far as getting more than what you paid for. It stands head and shoulders above other scopes in terms of battery life, which is something you don’t think you need until you need it. Overall, the AimPoint PRO is a well-priced fast-action optic that is good for all-around use if you can compensate for the problems with manipulating the knob.

  3. Easy to Install – It holds very firm once installed and very easy to adjust. Both the green and red dots are clear even at low intensity setting. With just a few simple steps you will be able to install this scope on your rifle in no time.
  4. Price – It’s not too expensive for the features that you get from it. In fact it is actually quite cheap. Some of you might think that this is a knock off because of its cheap price but before you judge it to be that, try it out first. You will be surprised as to what features it has in relation to its price. Even though it does not have night vision, it is compatible for night vision. Where are vortex optics made? They are American products and assembled internationally that is why the price is quite affordable. It is indeed a bang for the buck.
  5. Great eye relief – The scope is great for fast paced shooting. It allows both your eyes to peak through the lenses and acquire target quickly. Shooters will have headaches when using a scope which does not give a good eye relief, this scope is quite good for shooters who don’t have 20/20 vision.
  6. Parallax beyond 50 yards – Usually with other compact scopes, you will have a problem with the sight beyond 50 yards but surprising enough with this scope, it is parallax free even past 50 yards.

Cons

  1. Scope caps are hard to close – The scope caps in front are hard to close. We cannot say if it is because of the fact that it is new but many have said after more than a few uses it still is too tight to close. They are not easy to securely close. Most reviews from users have this common problem.
  2. Lens coating – It seems to be noticeably darker than the actual surroundings. If you are very particular with sights and precision, this is not particularly recommended for you.
  3. Magnifier – The 2x magnifier functions alright but is practically useless in fast shooting. In a true fire fight this would be of less value.
  4. The On/Off button – This feature should be improved. The location is not quite strategic when in the field. In most reviews users also notice that the scope can easily turn on and off by breathing on it. It is advisable to take off the battery when putting it inside the bag.

UTG 30mm Swat 3-12×44 Review

If you have been looking for a tactical range scope, this might be the perfect scope for you. The UTG 30mm swat 3-12×44 Compact IE Scope with AO Mildot is a great product for tactical shooting. It is one of the most favored scopes out in the market by both the military and the weekend warrior shooter. It has had great reviews because of its consistency and guiding the shooter in hitting the target. With a couple of test runs with this scope, these are our two cents:

UTG 30MM Swat Product Details

UTG Swat Sope Weight: 1.4 pounds

Size: 10.4 x 1.6 x 2.1 inches

Made in China

Batteries: 2 Lithium Metal batteries included

Waterproof, fog proof with nitrogen purging

EZTap Illumination Enhancing Technology

Parallax Free from 10 Yards

Pros

  1. Durability – The UTG Swat Rifle Scope has been tested to weather all conditions. It is waterproof and fog proof. It has been tested with rifles possessing extreme recoil. Some knock off rifle scopes perform well on your first few shootings but will function less ideal and less accurate because it they are not able to handle the recoil of your rifle. Surprisingly for this scope, after a couple of hundred rounds down range, the scope clarity and function remains in top shape.
  2. Finish – Looks great on the rifle. It really looks perfect on long range and midsized rifles. The design and build of the scope is a perfect fit on our AR15.
  3. EZTap illumination technology UTG Scope Optics – It is parallax free from 10 yards to unlimited. The optics are built with EZTap illumination technology built in which lets you handle any environment in any weather conditions. It is perfect for color blind shooters. The EZTap Illumination is also a great feature that can let you shoot at night. We love how the different colors can be changed according to preference. Other scopes with this price range do not have this cool feature. The TRE dots and the 19 aiming points make the vision more precise. The illuminated reticle makes the shooter easily see the target with less eye strain and great eye relief. The windage and elevation are easy to read. Even with no illumination, the etched reticle is quite clear.
  4. Price – Believe it or not, a scope with these features should be worth a thousand dollars but since it is made in China it is a lot cheaper. It’s a good thing because it lets many enjoy the features of expensive high end scopes at an affordable price. You will be surprised as to the many features this utg scope has.
  5. SlideWheelFunctionality – The scope is great for AR15 and other compatible rifles. The windage and elevation knobs are tightly held on the wheels. It comes with an integrated flip up lens caps, rings and batteries.
  6. Lightweight – the utg 3-12×44 is very much lightweight. You wouldn’t notice how light this utg scope is. It only weighs 1.4 pounds but it looks much heavier because of the design and built. This is highly advantageous for me since as I already carry a heavy rifle. Although light weight, it still is as durable as hell.

Cons

  1. Spongy click when feeling for zero – The knobs are actually hard to adjust. This might be a good thing for some shooters but for me, this is quite a disadvantage especially if you want to change to zero when you need to instantly change it in the field. The focus wheel also feels the same. It is stiff to turn the knobs on this scope.
  2. Clarity at 12 x – The magnifier functions okay but are practically useless in full zoom. Clarity at 12x is not that good.
  3. Lose cap – This feature should be improved. The caps that you can install on the scopes are not tight enough for resistance. It is irritating to have a lose cap while on the field. This has been a common problem for most of the reviews that I have also read from other owners. The manufacturers should try to improve on this.

Who Should Buy The UTG 30MM?

If you are looking for a mean looking scope that has many functions this is perfect for you. This is very affordable and will look quite good on your rifle. It is lightweight but will look heavy metal which adds flare to the gun. The design is great. The build is awesome. For beginners this is quite a catch. It is durable as hell! Do not mistake this China made utg scope to be a knock off. Its durability is perfect for you if you like tossing your gun around the bag without taking off the rifle scope or running in the field. If you have a high powered rifle this is also recommended for you since it is tested to withstand extreme recoils.
UTG tactical Scope Review

Why Buy The UTG Rifle Scope?

Buy it because it is affordable. Its affordability is not equivalent to its functionality. Why? It is more valuable than the price you pay for it. It has so many features that make it even a good buy at a $1000. This is definitely a bang for the buck. You save a lot of money by not getting those expensive scopes but enjoy the same functionality that they have. It is shock proof, rain proof, fog proof and has an integrated front sun shade. This is a great tactical scope!

Overall UTG Swat Rifle Scope Impact

It is very impressive! Don’t think twice because of the price. Affordable price doesn’t necessarily mean cheap quality. Read owner reviews and you will see how satisfied people are with this utg 30mm swat 3-12×44 scope. Overall impact: Highly recommended not just for beginners but also for those who are color blind shooters! It’s easy to install and quite durable. This rifle scope is of great value and highly recommended for any shooter. You will definitely be surprised as to how this scope functions above your expectations in the range or in the battle field.
